Each year, Tiyya hosts a Monster Cup Soccer Tournament to showcase the teamwork and skills they have learned on the field from the fall and spring seasons.
Some of the participants have been enrolled in the program since it's inception in 2010. We've seen them grow not only through their soccer skills, but into young adults who support, coach, and mentor their peers.
From diverse ages and backgrounds - they unify on the field to represent their Team.
This year's Monster Cup was a great hit!
It was a day filled with nail-biting soccer games and exciting fall festivities ranging from pumpkin carving, spooky Halloween-themed face painting, a bounce house a Trunk or Treat and even a costume contest.
Our winning costume was Sama (age 10 from Afghanistan) who had a beautiful Cinderella dress to go with her brand new soccer cleats. Through donations from our annual Soccer Tournament in March - we were excited to be able to purchase new cleats for all 60 of our participants!
For putting on such a fun and memorable event for Tiyya's youth, we want to thank our amazing Monster Cup Committee (David Loza, Liz Blum, Nakasi Herbert, Amina Ahmed, Ester Kim, and Amanda Blackhurst), Angela Rogers for face painting, Annalisa Carrillo-Fulk for putting together the Trunk or Treat!, and John from Fullerton Home Depot for generously providing electricity for the bounce house!
Another big thank you to all the players who donated to the campaign, the volunteers who provided transportation and led activities the day of the event, and everyone who came out to cheer on Tiyya's Youth Soccer Team. We're already excited for our next soccer tournament in March!
